Gastroenterology
Overview of Gastroenterology
Gastroenterologists co-ordinate the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract. This comprises the oesophagus, stomach, small intestines & bowel, the pancreas and liver.
We are committed to providing the highest quality of care to the local community and to patients referred from other regions. We have particular expertise in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), diseases of the pancreas and liver, HIV and gastrointestinal disease, nutrition and gastrointestinal cancers.
Examples of conditions treated
We perform interventional (highly specialised) procedures, such as endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP, capsule endoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and bowel cancer screening.
